I am currently the Professional Development Manager for A+ Schools of North Carolina, helping teachers across the state and throughout the country be more effective by using the arts in every classroom. Most recently, I served as Director of Teacher Education and School Recruitment at Muse Machine in Dayton, OH. I have served on the drama faculty at Graham High School in Graham NC, Snipes Academy of Arts and Design in Wilmington NC, and the Durham School of the Arts in Durham, NC.
While with Muse Machine, I implemented a strategic recruitment plan and increased student enrollment by over 1,100 students within the first quarter of employment. I also executed and evaluated a week-long
professional development intensive with teachers in New York City. At Graham High School, I was able to offer students a chance to collaborate with professional writers, producers, and composers and develop original theatre productions. While there, I was also honored to be an invited guest of the White House, where our students performed as a part of the annual Christmas celebration. At Snipes Academy, I created a bi-weekly After School Arts Program for grades 3-5 which resulted in the creation and production of an original, student-written musical. As a lead teacher for Durham County Schools, I created Stage Center, an annual festival of theatre education where teachers and students from across the district come together for fellowship and workshops with industry professionals. For Durham School of the Arts, I curated a Visiting Artist Series welcoming award-winning professionals from theatre design and performance to share intensive master classes with students. Most summers from 1999-2005, I was a curriculum writer, instructor, and Assistant Director of Curriculum for the UNCG All-Arts, Science, and Technology Camp, delivering 30 week-long courses in the arts and sciences to students aged 7-15 at rotating venues throughout the eastern US. In addition, I have taught as an artist-in-residence providing after-school, summer, and special courses to students from K-12 at a variety of schools and venues throughout the country.
